〖 The Galaxy System 〗

We’re a system of roughly 26(??) members

We are VERY reblog heavy blog and have a habit of accidentally mass-rb'ing from one blog because we get sucked down a rabbit hole of someone’s blog

Our SimplyPlural is TheGalaxySys13 if you’d like to add us!

We rarely reblog things/signs off with who is fronting unless it’s like. Directly for/including one system member in particular.

No set DNI because there’s way too much nuance to most discourse but we block liberally for many reasons and obviously block like. Racists and transphobes and shit. And please don’t get us caught up
in discourse!

My mom was having trouble using they/them prnouns with some friends for a while. One day she said “I think the problem is that I haven’t changed the way I view their gender outside of their pronouncs which adds several extra steps in converting binary pronouns to they/them then conjugating it. So I need to shift how I see them as a gendered person entirely to make using their pronouns easier.” And since then she hardly ever messes up.

A lot of the cis people in my life need this

This is literally why people mess up pronouns and why it’s a problem.

Like the reason you’re not calling me “they” is because you still think of me as gendered the way you initially assumed. It’s not just the pronouns I want you to change, they only serve as an acknowledgement of the gender I want you to adjust your perspective to. If you did that, you wouldn’t struggle with it.

The article says that the guidelines have been updated. Instead of asking if you’re a man that’s had sex with another man in the past 3 months it asks everyone regardless of gender if they’ve had anal sex with a new partner or if they’ve had anal sex with multiple partners in the past 3 months.

This both opens up blood donation to msm in exclusive relationships or who don’t have anal sex and more accurately identifies hiv risk from people who aren’t msm. This is exactly the sort of guidelines we’ve been fighting for for years. This is a major win for both gay rights and blood donation in the US. Now a bunch of people who couldn’t donate before can donate now.

I've had "cripple" shouted at me from cars while I was walking down the sidewalk with a friend. I've had "cripple" shouted at me in the hallways of schools. I've been referred to as just "the cripple" by people who knew my name. I've had abusive parents use "cripple" to demean me. I've had "cripple" used to mock and dehumanize me for my entire life.

I'm also autistic and have several other mental and cognitive disabilities. every single time I was called a cripple they were referring to my legs not my mind. they were referring to the same legs they called "something out of a horror movie" the same legs they were grossed out by because they twist and bend the wrong ways. they were referring to my limb difference and my mobility aids. it was never about my mind.

and don't think that it's just because I was never called slurs for my mental disabilities. I was constantly bullied and mocked with the r slur, I was called schizo and psycho and crazy, but never, not even once, did they reach for "cripple" as the word to attack me for my mind.

it is just not your word.
